Hey there! 👋
I'm Katie and our story to a cleaner lifestyle began 4 years ago when our daughter was diagnosed with cancer at 11 months old. I couldn't believe my baby who had not yet experienced the world, had cancer. How could this have happened? Although I will never have the answer, I started educating myself on what could help our family in the future. I began this journey with making household/personal clean swaps, healthy food swaps, and adding supplements to benefit our health.
I’m here to share with you something I believe will shift not just how you view products in your home but also how you prioritize your well-being and that of your loved ones. What fragrance is used with Modere and Oliveda?
"Modere not only complies with EU guidelines and cooperates with the IFRA, we have a safety commitment that exceeds industry standards and avoids other controversial ingredients in alignment with our clean label, graywater safe ingredient paradigm."
"If fragrances are used, then only a composition of essential oils is used. According to the EU Cosmetics Regulation, these are then summarized under the generic term perfume in the INCIS. Plant allergens such as linalool have to be shown separately according to the EU Cosmetics Regulation. In principle, OLIVEDA avoids all kinds of synthetic fragrances."
What ingrediants are not used in Modere?
Formaldehyde Releasers (including DMDM Hydration & diazolidinyl urea), PEGS (Polyethylene glycol, ingredients that contain PEG), Ethanolamine Comounds (including TEA, DEA), Fluoride-Based Ingredients, Aluminum-Based Antiperspirants, Parabens, Artificial Colors (except for use in color cosmetics), Flavors, PhosphatesPhthalates, BHA (Beta hydroxy acid), BHT (Butylated hydroxytolunene), TriclosanSLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate), Propylene Clycol, Mineral Oil, and Petrolatum
Why are certain chemicals used in the cleaners?
Benzisothiazolinone, Methylchloroisothiazolinone and methyisothiazolinone are preservatives commonly used in household products to kill bacteria and mold. Modere does not to use them in personal care because we believe they can only be used safely in rinse-off cleaning products and there is some evidence they are sensitizers. However, they are effective and less toxic in the very small amounts found in our Multi-Surface Cleaner.
What makes Oliveda different?
"We never put water first, as is the case with traditional emulsions. Our emulsion builds up entirely without water, which is why the Olea Europaea cell elixir comes first for us. However, water can be contained elsewhere in the INCI’s as a breakdown from other ingredients of the respective product beyond the emulsion base."
